Especially if you’re in your first trimester, it is very important to understand the signs and symptoms of miscarriages so you can seek help if such a situation arises. Here are some of the most common symptoms!
Vaginal Bleeding: Vaginal bleeding is the most common symptom of miscarriage, and although light bleeding and spotting is common, especially during the first trimester, prolonged heavy bleeding is not. If you have heavy bleeding or see blood clots for several days, it might be time to visit a physician as soon as possible.
Cramps/Tummy Pain: Cramps in your lower stomach, near your uterus, that are heavy and last for a long time could be a symptom of a miscarriage as well. If you have severe tummy pain on one side of your body, it may be a sign that you have an ectopic pregnancy, which is when the egg develops outside the womb. If this happens, it can cause internal bleeding, so it is important to consult a physician right away.
Vaginal Discharge: While slight vaginal discharge is normal, heavier discharge of vaginal fluid and tissue could indicate that a miscarriage is taking place. Keep an eye out for this, especially in the first trimester, and if it occurs, see if you are experiencing other symptoms such as bleeding, cramps, diarrhea, or feeling faint.
Hormone University was created as an educational platform with the mission to improve hormone health through accessible knowledge and to advocate for social impact in our communities.
